\n
\nCertainly not all gifted students will act on impulse or fear failure, but some do. Fear of failure is often associated with perfectionism and can greatly shape students' perceptions of themselves and their abilities. Think about a student who is successful in many areas of their life, but is reluctant to try something new. This hesitation could be a result of a fear of not being able to achieve the same level of success they experience in most other areas of their life. For some gifted students this fear can be debilitating and can lead to the student not realizing their full potential.
